New Study Says Eye Exercises Can Improve Vision Around Natural Blind Spot

You have a blind spot in both of your eyes, but there’s no need to panic because everybody is in the same boat. The blind spot is the result of the optic nerve we all have in each eye. This carries messages to the brain that are interpreted as images.

Because of the lack of cells that can detect light in the area where the optic nerve moves through the retina, there is that blind spot and no vision can be detected in this part of the eye. Instruments used included eye patches, computer monitors, and a ring picture placed into the blind spot itself. The sample population consisted of 10 people who were tested over a 20-day period.

The results were nothing short of amazing. By use of colored and moving line images, inside and outside the blind spot, it was determined that the size of the blind spot itself shrunk by about 10 percent. While not noticed by the test group members themselves, the findings were highly significant.

It was more than just the exercise which caused the change. Researchers noticed that the exercises in one eye did nothing for the blind spot in the other. There was a little bit more to the transformation.

It had to do with those receptors which are close to the blind spot or even overlap it. What appears to happen is that receptors became more sensitive to vision signals. What were once very slight, barely recognizable, signals coming from the blindness area were being picked up by the eye in the testing.

    You are thankful always for your blogs which are useful. I am 50 years. I had radial keritaamy /RK surgery in the year 1994 for both eyes. This is to reduce high myopia of -9.4 in both eyes. Presently my vision is 6/9 in both eyes with correction including reading . Problem is night driving. The head lights of vehicles coming opposite direction glares more on my eyes hence find difficulty in night driving. Also what found is very early stage of cataract in my eyes.
    My request, can you suggest any apt exercises for this.
    If with eye exercises I get improvement in my eyesight?
