What Is Vision Science?

What Is Vision Science?

At Rebuild Your Vision, we are always pushing the boundaries of natural and effective ways you can improve your vision. We also like to be on the cutting edge of all things eye-related. This is especially true when it comes to studying eyes scientifically. Vision science is a relatively new term in eye research circles. But, it still may have a big impact on how we view ocular studies.

Vision science, simply put, is the science of your vision. Like we mentioned before, it is a relatively recent term. It is used to describe all studies that are related to how humans and animals process information visually. This type of science also had numerous sub-types, which include ophthalmology, neuroscience, computer vision, perception psychology, and more.

If you’re interested in studying vision more deeply but maybe don’t want to work as an optometrist or ophthalmologist, this may be the field for you. However, you can also pursue a vision science degree and become an eye doctor in the end! The interdisciplinary nature of a vision science degree opens up so many doors for future careers.

How Is Vision Science Studied?

What Is Vision Science?Since vision science is a new broad category of science, it is a little bit difficult to learn a lot about. More and more colleges are adding vision science programs to their course catalog. So, this field is definitely on the rise. The entire category encompasses so much information than most people who study information regarding vision study fields.

However, there are a few colleges in the United States that now offer more specialized programs in the vision science field. These colleges offer students the ability to receive their doctorate in the broad field of vision science. This means that students can now study fields such as visual cognition, perception, and biomedical optics.

Scientists now understand a great deal about how the human eye works. Different fields under the category of vision science are now showcasing that information. If you’re passionate about vision and want to learn more than what optometry school will teach you, this may be the program for you.

Vision science also allows people to study behavioral and cognitive neuroscience and how these fields relate to the eye. You can also study how the knowledge of neuroscience can improve eye health. The more scientists learn about how the body and how everything connects, the more they understand what exactly affects our vision.

Additionally, people with degrees in vision science can pursue academic research jobs in the field. An advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) could lead to a fulfilling career studying the newest remedies and possible cures for serious vision problems.

Vision scientists can also study the psychology of vision. In this day and age, we are becoming increasingly aware of how much our mental health and physical health go hand in hand. That’s why combining psychology with the study of vision is such an essential move forward in the field.

Vision Science and the Ocu-Plus Formula

Vision science research can also combine the fields of optometry and nutrition. If you’re a regular Rebuild Your Vision reader, you know that we’ve been talking about the connections between what you eat and how you see for years.

Our Ocu-Plus Formula works under the assumption that people suffering from nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or presbyopia can repair and improve their vision through natural sectors. This means that people who have worn glasses or contacts, or who just have noticed a decrease in their vision as they grow older, can improve their eyesight.

Our eyes are constantly overworked. Whether you sit in front of a computer all day, or you’ve simply strained your eyes by reading or doing intricate work, your vision has probably suffered. But, the great news is your eyes are controlled by muscles. The same type of muscles that are in your arms and legs are also in your eyes. We know eating well and exercising can make our bodies stronger and healthier. So, an eye-healthy diet and exercise regimen will make our vision stronger.

Exercises and Vitamins for Better Vision

At Rebuild Your Vision, we also talk a lot about eye exercises. These exercises are brief routines that can really help reduce eye strain and strengthen your vision. One way you can do this is through focus exercises, which require you to switch between close and far focus for 20 to 30 seconds at a time.

Another exercise you can try is to do the round-the-clock exercise. For this one, you’ll want to close your eyes and picture an analog clock in front of your eyes. Slowly rotate your eyeballs from the 12 to 6 position on the clock, back and forth, in sets of 15-20. Then, repeated this process using the 3 and 9 o’clock positions. This will strengthen all of the muscles around your eyes.

However, nutrition is equally important when it comes to preserving your vision, as any vision scientist will tell you. You want to make sure you are getting enough vegetables and fruits that are high in beta carotenes and antioxidants in order to keep your eyes functioning well. However, we know that isn’t always the easiest thing to do, especially if you live a life on the go. If that’s the case for you, you can always turn to supplements to fill in the gaps.

This is the premise behind the Ocu-Plus Formula. By learning about the intricacies of the human eye through vision science, this program has designed a special formula made up of 17 vision-enhancing vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that have been proven to improve your vision.

The supplement is designed to maintain your improved vision as well. Once you have reduced your need to wear your glasses or contacts, you will need to continue taking the eye vitamins in order to maintain the strength in your eye muscles. So, if you are interested in learning more, you can read about the Ocu-Plus Formula. With a few simple clicks of your mouse, you could start the journey to regaining your vision!
