A young boy standing next to his mother covers one eye for an eye exam.

The difference between regular vs behavioral optometry is, as you might expect, a big one. However, despite this significant difference, the exact nature of behavioral optometry is not well understood. If you haven’t heard of this type of optometry before, you’re not alone. Like vision science, behavioral optometry is a growing field. And, complicating the matter […]

The Best Macular Degeneration Vitamins

A woman in an apron appears to be cooking with a frying pan; multicolored neon names of macular degeneration vitamins steam out.

Macular degeneration is unfortunately on the rise in the U.S., and likely across the globe. This is largely due to the fact that our population is aging, and this disease is pretty much inevitable as our bodies age. In fact, it is estimated that nearly 20 million U.S. adults live with some form of macular […]

What Does Low Vision Mean?

A man wearing a suit holding up his eyeglasses to look at a device.

We talk a lot about declining vision here at Rebuild Your Vision, and we talk even more about how to prevent it. What we don’t talk about as much, though, is low vision. But what does low vision mean? This condition is caused by a disease and is not correctable with regular lenses or eyeglasses. […]

Can Playing Outdoors Improve Children’s Eyesight?

A group of children running through the grass.

It’s no secret that the past decade has seen the rise of smartphone culture in the U.S. Eighty-four percent of Americans now own smartphones, to say nothing of the number that have computers and televisions as well. So, what is normal eye pressure, and why does it matter for your long-term vision health? Before we get into those specifics, let’s talk a little more about […]

What Is Depth Perception and Why Is It Important?

A woman and small boy cross the street at a crosswalk as a car approaches.

We’ve all been there – at some point or another, we’ve grumbled about our depth perception after stubbing our toe while walking down the hall or bumping our head while getting into the car. Or, if you’ve ever tried on a friend’s glasses with the wrong prescription and realized you’ve lost the ability to judge […]

Eye Exercises for Astigmatism

Eye diagram demonstrates effects of astigmatism on light entering the eye

If you have a refractive error, there’s a good chance it’s astigmatism. In fact, nearly one-third of Americans suffer from this condition. But before you run to the eye doctor for corrective surgery, you may want to think again. Doctors are performing fewer and fewer LASIK surgeries as the years go on, and for good […]

Natural Ways to Lower Eye Pressure

A chart shows the visual difference between eyes with different types of glaucoma and healthy eyes.

There is one eye condition that many aging adults develop almost without warning. About three million Americans have glaucoma, but only half are aware of it. Unfortunately, this isn’t a condition you can just grit your teeth and get through, or ignore and hope it gets better. Untreated, glaucoma can lead to blindness. In fact, […]
